ATTENDANCE

Attendance is one of the most important parts of your child’s education, since learning cannot take place if the child is not at school. In school, as in other facets of life, punctuality and regular attendance are necessary for success. Students who do not maintain good attendance maybe required to repeat a grade, lose certain privileges and/or be taken to court. Students who fail to attend school regularly or accumulate numerous absences can be deemed truant and will be reported to the proper authorities.

School begins at 8:30 a.m. The school will not be responsible for student supervision until 8:15 a.m. Between 8:15 and 8:30 children are to stay on the playground supervised by a faculty member.

A child who has been absent must present a note of explanation from parents or guardians unless a note or excuse was presented before the absence. Families should schedule vacations that coincide with the scheduled school vacation days. Attendance is one of the most important parts of your child’s education and every effort needs to be made for your child to attend school regularly.

Parents are asked to call the school office before 8:30 a.m. each day the child is going to be absent or late due to illness, dentist, doctor or other delays. The school office number is 342-3043.

If a child arrives after 10:00 a.m. or leaves before 2:00 p.m., he or she is considered absent for ½ day. Children are to assume responsibility for all make up work so that they may make continuous progress. Students must see their teacher or teachers to ascertain what class work needs to be completed after an absence. Students missing 28 days or more within one school year will be obliged to make up the material missed or successfully demonstrate knowledge of subject matter before being promoted to the succeeding grade. Parents are encouraged to keep in contact with the school office regarding absences.

TARDINESS

A child is marked tardy when he or she is not present for opening exercises at 8:30. Arriving after 8:30, students must be signed in at the office by a parent and receive an Admit to Class pass. No student will be permitted to enter class without a pass after 8:30. Children will not be considered tardy if bus transportation is late.

BUS SERVICE

The following school systems provide transportation for St. Rose Students:

New Lexington City Schools

Crooksville Village Schools

Southern Local Schools

Each year the local papers publish rules and regulations for proper behavior on the bus. All St. Rose School students are expected to observe the rules and exemplify Christian conduct while riding the bus.

Any child who is a disturbance (that is, stands, fights, is disrespectful, uses improper language, etc.) can be suspended from riding the bus and will be asked to find another way to and from school. Proper conduct will enable the bus driver to drive carefully, to be pleasant, and to promote the safety to all.

Children will not be permitted to ride a different bus unless a parent has made a special request in writing or by calling the school office.

CRISIS PLAN

St. Rose School has established procedures to protect its students. Evacuation drills are held on a regular basis for emergency situations, such as fire, tornado and rapid dismissal. Emergency procedures are posted in classrooms and are available to parents, pupils and school personnel.

If an evacuation to another location is necessary, the student body and teachers should walk to the Perry County Library following this route. All classes should meet by the PCC on High St. Follow High St. to Brown St. turning left towards Main St. Turn right on Main St. to Park Ave. Take a left on Park to Jackson. Follow Jackson to the left to the Library.

While walking to the Library, students should remain with the teacher whose class they were attending prior to the emergency dismissal. Students will remain with their teacher until they are released to their parents.

Parents should go to the Dismissal Table when they arrive at the Library. Runners from that table will find all of the children from that family and bring them to the Dismissal Table. STUDENTS WILL BE DISMISSED BY FAMILY.

Parents should sign out their children on the Emergency Dismissal Sign Out Sheets located at the Dismissal Table. NO STUDENT MAY LEAVE UNLESS A PARENT OR OTHER AUTHORIZED ADULT SIGNS THE STUDENT OUT.
