2^nd Grade News

Homework Packets

I am asking that homework packets be returned to school only on Mondays, when they are due. They do not need to travel back and forth in the home-school folders each night unless you feel this is the best place to store the packet so it does not get misplaced throughout the week. Please note, however, that I will only remove homework packets from the home-school folders on the day they are due. Thank you.

Email

My email account is finally up and working. I will work on trying to make contact with each parent/guardian who has provided me with an email address. Study Guides and Tests

We will have our first math test this Friday, Sept. 9^th and the study guide for the test will be sent home with students on Wednesday. Just as a general reminder, students and I will complete study guides together in class and they will be sent home with students at least two evenings before the scheduled test. Study guides will cover the information students will be responsible for on tests, so if students review the study guide they will be well prepared for the test.

Spelling

Our spelling word lists will be available on SpellingCity.com for students to practice and study. I was told students would be familiar with this online tool because they used it last year in 1^st grade. To access and work with our current words, just go to www.spellingcity.com and follow these steps: 1.) click on “Find a List”, 2.) click on search by: “Teacher” and enter my name in the search term box (Kindra Ervin). The search results should show my name and school information. Next, 3.) click on my name to show “Spelling and Vocabulary Lists” and then, finally, 4.) click on “Unit 2” to get to our words. If you have any questions or problems please let me know. Remember, we will have a spelling test over Unit 2 this Friday, Sept. 9^th. The word list was sent home last Friday and will also be included in this week’s homework packet.
